The formula based on the successful doo-wop tradition with the dominant bass line just uttering one-syllable-sounds like "boom boom", "dah dah" or something like that. Nach einigen Hits bei Luniverse und Dot Records spaltete sich die Gruppe in THE DEL VIKINGS und THE DELL-VIKINGS, die beide weiterhin erfolgreich waren bei Dot bzw. Mercury Records. 1959 lösten sich die Gruppen auf, nachdem Gus Backus nach Deutschland gegangen war und Chuck Jackson eine erfolgreiche Solo-R'n'B-Karriere gestartet hatte. |

After several hit recordings with Luniverse and Dot Records the group split up to become THE DELL-VIKINGS and THE DEL VIKINGS respectively. Both of them remained successful with hit records for Dot and Mercury. In 1959 the groups were disbanded when the lead vocalists left: Gus Backus went to Germany to become a singing and a movie star and Chuck Jackson pursued a big r'n'b solo career. |
